Before You Leave: What to Check
Before buying an eSIM plan, confirm that your phone:
- Supports eSIM - check your settings: Settings → Mobile Network → Add eSIM (Android) or Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM (iPhone)
- Is not carrier-locked - phones bought on contract may be temporarily locked. After the contract ends or 12 months have passed, carriers must unlock your device for free
- Has a free profile slot - most devices support up to 8 saved eSIM profiles, but only 1–2 can be active at the same time
Step by Step: Purchase and Activation
Step 1: Choose a Plan
Browse our site, search for your destination country or region, and select a plan that fits your trip length and data needs. Options include:
- Country plans (single country coverage)
- Regional plans (e.g., all of Europe, East Asia)
- Global plans (100+ countries)
Step 2: Pay and Get Your QR Code
After payment you'll immediately receive an email with a QR code and an install link. No printing required - showing the QR image on another device's screen works just as well.
Step 3: Add the eSIM Profile
On iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code
On Android (Samsung, Pixel, etc.): Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → Add eSIM → Scan QR Code
Tip: Add the eSIM profile before you leave home. Activation requires an internet connection - your home Wi-Fi or carrier network is perfect for this.
Step 4: Set Data Priorities
Once the eSIM is added, choose which card handles data and which handles calls:
- Data: tourist eSIM
- Calls & SMS: your home SIM card (for 2FA codes, banking, etc.)
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use eSIM right after landing?
Yes - as long as you added the profile before departure and the plan is active. If your plan starts on "first use," the network activates automatically the moment you connect.
What if I run out of data?
Top up your existing plan or buy a new one online - all without leaving your hotel room. New eSIM profiles arrive in your inbox within seconds.
Does eSIM support Wi-Fi Calling?
Yes - eSIM supports Wi-Fi Calling exactly like a physical SIM card.
Is eSIM the same as roaming?
No. Our eSIM plans are not roaming plans - they connect directly to the local network in your destination country. This means lower prices and faster speeds than standard roaming.
Summary
Using eSIM abroad is simpler than you think. A few minutes before departure and you can forget about hunting for a local SIM card at the airport, queuing at carrier stores, and unexpected roaming charges.
